Photographing flowers is one of those secret things photographers do but often don't want to admit it. After my first flower shot in the "garden" gallery, I didn't take any for a long time. But there's no reason to feel self-conscious -- flowers are some of the most beautiful brightening things on the planet. Because we so often see them in real life, the challenge is to produce a photograph that isn't just a family snap of a flower.
