Fairy lightsEvery Christmas at Pacific Place, one of Hong Kong's big shopping malls, they decorate the trunks of the trees in the rooftop garden with orange lights.
I have to congratulate them on two counts. First, it's an inspired idea to decorate the trunks rather than the branches and leaves -- they look surreal, like an army of radioactive tree trunks with invisible arms. Second, they don't feel the need to change decorations every year -- they've got something beautiful and they're sticking with it.
